Privacy policy
Last updated: 18 October 2026
Ryft is a free desktop launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition on macOS. It is currently in development. This policy explains what information Ryft handles and why.
Signing in
You sign in to Ryft with your own Microsoft account, using Microsoft's official sign-in page. Ryft never sees or stores your Microsoft password. After you sign in, Microsoft and Minecraft services give Ryft access tokens so it can confirm that you own Minecraft and launch the game for you.
What Ryft stores
- On your Mac: your sign-in tokens, your Minecraft username and player ID (UUID), your settings, and the game files Ryft downloads. These stay on your device.
- Not collected: passwords, payment details, contacts, location or browsing history.
The current version of Ryft has no Ryft account server, so your information is not sent to Ryft. If future versions add online features such as friends, we will update this policy before they launch, and they will use your Minecraft player ID and username only.
Services Ryft connects to
To work, Ryft connects to Microsoft and Xbox Live (sign-in), Mojang (game, Java runtime and account services), Fabric (mod loader) and Modrinth (mod downloads). When you join a server, that server receives the same information it would from the official launcher. Each service has its own privacy policy.
Children
Ryft does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Parental controls set on a Microsoft family account continue to apply when signing in through Ryft.
Your choices
You can sign out in Ryft at any time, which deletes your tokens from your Mac. Deleting Ryft and its folder in ~/Library/Application Support/Ryft removes everything it stored. You can also revoke Ryft's access from your Microsoft account's privacy settings.
